About this artist

Behnaz Mohammadhadi, born in September 1984 (Shahrivar 1363) in Tehran, is a visual artist and sculptor. She began her artistic journey with painting at a young age but soon gravitated toward sculpture, a medium she found to be more fluid and expansive. Over the past two decades, she has participated in more than 50 solo and group exhibitions in Iran and abroad. Her work explores inner reflections and socio-cultural themes through distinct and evolving artistic phases.

Artist Statement

My art is a journey of self and collective exploration, in which each work serves as a bridge between inner life and outward society. Form is not a mere tool; it is a living apparatus for perception, memory, and consciousness, embodying the cerebral as both space and symbol.

The recurring motif of the brain in my practice stands as an iconic signature, fusion of body, psyche, and memory, inviting viewers into a private yet universal mental landscape. Appearing sometimes raw and physical, other times hidden or metaphorical, it signifies resilience, introspection, love, violence, silence, and rebirth.

Recent series “Symphony of Womanhood,” “Ragnarok,” and “Hidden Biospheres” tackle themes of feminine identity, collapse, unseen life, and internal animal instincts. Using diverse materials (from rugged to delicate), I aim to unearth humanity’s shadow sides, desire, fear, fundamental needs, love, hatred, and beauty, in resolute honesty. My work seeks to face suffering without losing sight of hope and light.
