Artist Statement
Lukáš Jabůrek’s practice is rooted in a deep respect for glass as both material and medium. Initially drawn to architecture, he found his true path in glassmaking, where the physical intensity of heat, light, and rhythm revealed a form of expression that is both immediate and honest.
For Jabůrek, glass is a material that tells the truth. It reflects every gesture, emotion, and intention embedded within it. Its dual nature, both strong and fragile, demands precision, humility, and complete focus. In return, it offers a unique interplay of light, depth, and atmosphere.
His work is driven by the belief that every object must carry its own story. Beyond form and color, each piece embodies an inner meaning shaped through the dialogue between design and craftsmanship. He often combines vibrant color with intricate cutting techniques, creating objects defined by clarity, structure, and optical complexity.
Collaboration with master glassmakers plays a central role in his process. These partnerships are built on shared knowledge, trust, and a mutual pursuit of excellence. Whether creating for renowned brands or private collectors, Jabůrek approaches each work as a balance between artistic vision and personal expression.
His work ultimately seeks harmony. When form, light, technique, and idea align, the object transcends its material presence. The final and most essential moment occurs when the viewer pauses, engages, and forms a personal connection with the piece.
