about this Digital Photography
This artwork depicts a woman walking freely through a lush green field, her mustard dress flowing with the breeze. Her outstretched arms graze the plants, creating a tactile connection with nature. Her face is obscured by vibrant, colorful balloons, transforming her into a living kaleidoscope.
The composition evokes themes of rebirth, joy, and the awakening of senses, as if spring itself has taken human form. The interplay of earthy greens, warm mustard, and playful balloons suggests freedom, renewal, and the ephemeral beauty of fleeting moments, celebrating harmony between the human figure and the natural world.
about the artist
Carla Sutera Sardo (b. 1983, Agrigento) is an Italian photographer exploring the relationship between women and natural landscapes. She began her practice during university studies in Palermo and Rome, teaching herself through self-portraiture.
Her staged compositions balance intimacy and strength, inviting viewers into quiet, surreal moments that evoke transformation and emotional depth.
Early works focused on Sicily’s unspoiled terrain, revealing her poetic, dreamlike visual language. Her imagery suspends time, blending intimacy, femininity, and place with quiet strength.
Sutera Sardo’s photographs have appeared in L’Œil de la Photographie, Vogue Italia, and won recognition from the Sony World Photography Awards and Siena Photography Awards. She has also received the Prix de la Photographie.
Her work has been exhibited internationally in London, Paris, Florence, Turin, Palermo, Zhengzhou, Gibellina, and Slovenia. Notably, she contributed to Nomad Art Collective’s inaugural exhibitions Il Bivio: Fragmented Feminine and Il Bivio II: Sicily in Confluence.
