This photography artwork explores the space between observed landscape and constructed visual form. A photographic base of natural scenery anchors the composition in a sense of place and atmosphere.

The landscape format creates a wide visual field, allowing the composition to unfold horizontally. There is a subtle shift between photographic reality and constructed abstraction. Colour, structure, and layered depth establish a rhythmic flow across the surface.

about the artist

Simon Bolton is a British visual artist working across photography and digital image construction. His practice sits between documentary sensibility and contemporary visual abstraction. With over 35 years of experience, he has worked across editorial, commercial, and fine art photography.

His early career includes work for national and international publications. These include The Daily Telegraph, NME, and The British Medical Journal. He has completed commercial commissions for brands such as IKEA, Toyota, HSBC, Vodafone, and the NHS.

Bolton holds an MFA in Documentary Photography from the University of Wales. His work has been recognised by the International Photography Awards in 2020 and 2021. His piece Three of Wands was selected for the Saatchi Art Best of 2024 Collection.

His fine art photography explores the relationship between landscape, perception, and symbolic visual language. Natural environments are transformed into layered photographic compositions that move between observation and imagination.

His work invites reflection on inner experience, shifting perspectives, and the search for meaning. Developed over recent years, the series engages with themes of uncertainty, transformation, and personal navigation, creating contemplative visual spaces where reality and interpretation converge.
