about this mixed media sculpture
The Silent Poultry mixed media sculpture by Sara Rahanjam is a captivating series of sculptures featuring lips as the central form, with striking bronze hands emerging from them.
This surreal combination of lips and hands evokes a sense of both vulnerability and movement, symbolizing the power of communication and the ways in which words can propel or inhibit action.
This mixed media sculpture delves into the intricate relationship between silence, speech, and the impact of words in a world increasingly shaped by global crises.
Inspired by recent events, including pandemics, geopolitical unrest, and social upheavals, Rahanjam’s work reflects the artist’s heightened awareness of human fragility and the profound influence of words.
The red lips contrast the hands that extend from them, representing the dual nature of communication: words can lead to constructive change or destructive consequences.
