Amir Kamand is a Tehran-based sculptor known for his innovative use of wood. He began his artistic journey in industrial manufacturing, where he was first introduced to wax. Soon, he transitioned to wood, which became his primary medium.
Kamand's sculptures often blend elements from his personal experiences, such as his past as a skier and boxer. He is well known for incorporating figures inspired by pop culture, which reflect themes of power dynamics.
His work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions globally, including at Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Kamand's larger-scale works, which combine multiple figures, first gained recognition during the 2019 City Prince/sses exhibition.
