about this Digital Photography
Labirinto di Arianna is a compelling photographic work that reimagines the myth of Ariadne through a contemporary lens. The image features a solitary female figure reclining atop a terracotta-colored labyrinthine structure, her body gracefully arched and poised in a moment of serene vulnerability.
The labyrinth, symbolizing complexity and introspection, serves as a metaphor for the intricate paths of the human psyche. The subject's position within the labyrinth suggests a journey of self-discovery and the delicate balance between entrapment and liberation.
The warm, earthy tones of the setting contrast with the subject's pale form, highlighting themes of isolation and connection. The photograph invites viewers to contemplate the interplay between structure and freedom, guiding them through a visual narrative that echoes the timeless quest for meaning and understanding.
about the artist
Carla Sutera Sardo (b. 1983, Agrigento) is an Italian photographer exploring the relationship between women and natural landscapes. She began her practice during university studies in Palermo and Rome, teaching herself through self-portraiture.
Her staged compositions balance intimacy and strength, inviting viewers into quiet, surreal moments that evoke transformation and emotional depth.
