about this wood sculpture

This striking piece, titled Shokooh, is crafted from pale maple and rich walnut wood. Its slender neck is shaped using the traditional off-axis turning technique known as lang-tarashi.

The intricate surface design is created through pyrography, burning a hand-drawn pattern onto the maple wood. The motif is first sketched with pencil, then carefully burned into the surface with a heated stylus. This process produces warm, contrasting lines that complement the light tone of the maple.

A final coating of plant-based oil protects the entire piece and enhances the natural grain. These oils are water-repellent, preserving the wood’s texture and finish. The dark walnut contrasts with the pale maple, giving the piece a sense of refined elegance and balance.
