about this Digital Photography
In this striking contemporary photograph, a woman roams across a verdant Sicilian field, her body and head enveloped by a cascade of pastel balloons, soft spheres of color rising above the green landscape.
The balloons cloak her identity, transforming her into an abstract form immersed in nature’s embrace. This visual enigma becomes a metaphor for rebirth and emotional release, as she wanders freely beneath the sky, buoyed by the weightless chorus of floating orbs.
Through this interplay of organic earth tones and playful luminosity, Full of Colors blurs the boundary between isolation and unity, inviting viewers to feel the interplay of color, whimsy, and the expansiveness of being.
about the artist
Carla Sutera Sardo (b. 1983, Agrigento) is an Italian photographer exploring the relationship between women and natural landscapes. She began her practice during university studies in Palermo and Rome, teaching herself through self-portraiture.
Her staged compositions balance intimacy and strength, inviting viewers into quiet, surreal moments that evoke transformation and emotional depth.
Early works focused on Sicily’s unspoiled terrain, revealing her poetic, dreamlike visual language. Her imagery suspends time, blending intimacy, femininity, and place with quiet strength.
Sutera Sardo’s photographs have appeared in L’Œil de la Photographie, Vogue Italia, and won recognition from the Sony World Photography Awards and Siena Photography Awards. She has also received the Prix de la Photographie.
Her work has been exhibited internationally in London, Paris, Florence, Turin, Palermo, Zhengzhou, Gibellina, and Slovenia. Notably, she contributed to Nomad Art Collective’s inaugural exhibitions Il Bivio: Fragmented Feminine and Il Bivio II: Sicily in Confluence.
