About the artist

Seena Nayeri, born in March 1983 in Mashhad, Iran, is an accomplished sculptor celebrated for his innovative approach to blending traditional and contemporary artistic methods. His work demonstrates a mastery of form and texture, reflecting his dedication to exploring the interplay between materiality and conceptual depth.

Nayeri began his artistic journey in 2007 under the mentorship of the renowned Iranian sculptor Parviz Tanavoli. This pivotal relationship greatly influenced his creative direction, allowing him to refine his skills and develop a unique voice within the sculptural arts. Nayeri’s practice is characterized by his ability to harmonize opposing elements, often combining smooth and textured surfaces to evoke a sense of contrast and balance.

His sculptures frequently delve into themes of human emotion and existential inquiry. Pieces like "Dazed," a compact yet evocative clay sculpture, encapsulate his talent for capturing complex emotional states through abstract forms. By emphasizing texture and volume, Nayeri creates works that are both visually striking and emotionally resonant.

Throughout his career, Nayeri has exhibited his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions, establishing himself as a prominent figure in the contemporary Iranian art scene. His solo shows, such as "Fools Carnival" at Seyhoun Art Gallery in Tehran (2007) and "I'm Going to Make a Cake!" at Parvin Art Gallery in Rasht (2008), showcase his evolving exploration of form and narrative.

He has also participated in collaborative exhibitions, including "Nothing and Everything" at Art Center Tehran (2018) and the "IRAN20 CHINA20" group exhibition at Isfahan Museum of Contemporary Arts (2019).

Nayeri’s artistry is deeply rooted in the rich cultural heritage of Iran while maintaining a dialogue with global contemporary art practices. His works reflect a thoughtful integration of traditional techniques with modern aesthetics, making them both timeless and innovative.

As an artist, Nayeri continues to push the boundaries of sculptural expression, creating pieces that resonate with audiences on both intellectual and emotional levels. View his collection of available mixed media sculpture artworks here
