"Sedimentation" is a ceramic sculpture series by Iranian artist Ziba Pashang, crafted using the ancient coil technique. These sculptures, shaped like vases, feature white tones that highlight the artist's meticulous layering process and attention to intricate detail and texture. Pashang's work often explores themes of nature and personal reflection, with each piece crafted in a meditative process, layer by layer.

The coil technique, one of the oldest methods of hand-building ceramics, involves rolling clay into long, snake-like coils. These coils are carefully layered to construct walls or organic forms, allowing for dynamic shapes and intricate textures. This technique results in unique ceramic sculptures with organic qualities that invite viewers to immerse themselves in layered narratives and contemplative beauty.

The white tones in "Sedimentation" evoke tranquility and harmony, reminiscent of serene natural landscapes. Ziba Pashang, born on August 29, 1980, in Tehran, Iran, is a prominent contemporary artist celebrated for her sculptural works. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Handicrafts from Alzahra University in 2003 and a Master’s degree in Painting from Sooreh University in 2017. Her work reflects a deep understanding of traditional Iranian art forms, such as miniature painting, marquetry, and textile printing.

Pashang's career includes active membership in notable art organizations like the Association of Iranian Sculptors and the Association of Iranian Pottery Artists. Her works have been exhibited internationally, including solo exhibitions such as "Ruined Existence" at Seyhoun Art Gallery in Tehran.

Inspired by personal struggles, Pashang draws on memories of a childhood shaped by war and ongoing insecurity in the Middle East. Her ceramic sculptures serve as visual narratives that reflect wounds from familial battles with cancer and the silent suffering of nature, particularly trees.

Each piece carries a symbolic interior, encouraging viewers to uncover stories of sociopolitical struggles and the artist's personal health challenges. Her work transforms pain into beauty.
