Behnaz Mohammadhadi’s Brain & Legs series, features sculptural hybrids that merge a human brain with legs. Executed in both bronze and fiberglass, these pieces delve into the psychological and philosophical connection between thought and movement. The works are a striking visual metaphor for the interplay of mental intention and physical action, forming an evocative commentary on the unity of mind and body.

In the bronze editions, the artist uses the traditional lost-wax casting method. The process begins with a hand-modeled form, followed by a complex series of molds and molten metal work. The final surface is patinated, creating rich tones and textural depth.

The fiberglass versions were molded from original models and offer a lightweight, durable counterpart to the bronze. These are often finished with metallic paints or surface treatments to evoke the appearance of cast metal.

The series was exhibited in Mohammadhadi’s 2025 solo show titled Hidden Existence, where it was noted for its clarity of form and conceptual strength. Viewers responded to the sculptures' ability to present surreal combinations with emotional gravity. The balance between realism and abstraction gave the pieces a dreamlike quality, while the anatomical focus rooted them in the human experience.

Brain & Legs remains one of Mohammadhadi’s most recognizable series. Its minimal yet layered design continues to attract interest from collectors and curators alike. Through this body of work, she manages to materialize internal processes into physical form, offering a poetic bridge between intellect and instinct.

about the artist

Behnaz Mohammadhadi, born in September 1984 (Shahrivar 1363) in Tehran, is a visual artist and sculptor. She began her artistic journey with painting at a young age but soon gravitated toward sculpture, a medium she found to be more fluid and expansive.

Over the past two decades, she has participated in more than 50 solo and group exhibitions in Iran and abroad. Her work explores inner reflections and socio-cultural themes through distinct and evolving artistic phases.
